Media Accreditation Guidelines

Media Accreditation Guidelines

For 2013, the Nicky Grist Stages is carrying out additional checks to ensure that any person seeking media accreditation to the event is representing bona fide professional organisations or companies and, by their work, will add to the promotional coverage and exposure of the event. We regret therefore that we will not provide accreditation to those who are only seeking to make personal financial gain from the rally.

Therefore, the following guidelines will be enforced for the 2013 event. If you believe you can meet the at least one of the criteria below, please complete and return the form that is downloadable below.

Media Accreditation will ONLY be available to those who meet the following criteria:

¨    You hold a full MSA Media Accreditation as a Photographer/Journalist/Press Officer, or

¨    You have full and proper evidence (required with the application) that you are accredited to a championship that the Nicky Grist Stages forms part of (as a photographer, journalist or PO), or

¨    You are able to provide a letter of accreditation (by post only with the application) confirming your appointment to provide reports or photographs of the event to a recognised National or Regional newspaper/magazine/ radio/TV/website, or

¨    You are able to provide examples of recently published work to indicate you have a proven media track record.

Please note accreditation will not be given to parties who are only providing PR for individual competitors.

Acceptance of any application for Media Accreditation is at the Organisers’ discretion.

The Organisers expect those who have been accredited will supply them subsequently as a matter of course with copies of published work to be included in our ‘Media Footprint’ summary for sponsors, etc. The organisers reserve the right to request copies of articles and photographs produced as part of your accredited duties. Failure to provide such items may lead to accreditation being withheld in future years.

Only those who have pre-registered and have been granted accreditation will be given credentials that will be solely for their use, including a pass and door plate that will allow them access to the stages, along with a Media Pack containing stage and route information and mileages, entry list, time schedule and service details. No special areas will be set aside for media personnel, but stage commanders and marshals will be briefed to allow only those who are accredited to position themselves as they wish, which, nevertheless, should be in a place that is adjudged as being safe by those responsible for stage safety. Non-accredited photographers, etc., will be restricted to operating from within spectator areas only.

For those who do not meet the above criteria, we can advise that the location of most of the stages on this event allow ample access to safe and exciting locations from the designated spectator car parks for amateur photographers etc, without the need for media accreditation.

Experienced media personnel will of course be aware of the prohibition of the use of video equipment on military land without the appropriate licence. The MOD strictly enforces this ruling and will pursue the makers and distributors of any footage that appears in the public domain that has been taken by anyone who does not have the appropriate licence.

Information on how to obtain a licence can be supplied on request.
