Spectators welcome at this year’s Nicky Grist Stages

Spectators will be welcome at the 2022 Nicky Grist Stages, which takes place on Saturday 9 July.

Last year the Nicky Grist Stages was the first stage rally to be held in Wales after the suspension of motorsport across the UK was lifted, although the event had to run behind closed doors after a request from the landowners.

Event organisers Quinton Motor Club hoped that the exceptional circumstances would mean that 2021 was a one off  – and it was!

Restrictions on the number of people gathering at major sporting events in Wales was lifted just before the start of the Six Nations rugby tournament and further Welsh Government restrictions, including the compulsory wearing of face coverings in shops and on public transport, has been lifted.

With stages in the classic mid-Wales forests near to the event’s base in Builth Wells, the organisers are planning two dedicated and easily accessed spectator areas – where fans will be able to see all the cars pass twice.

The exact plans are currently being finalised with the landowners and full spectator details will be release nearer the event.

And fans will be in for a treat, as the 2022 Nicky Grist Stages will host a round of several major rally championships, including:

– Motorsport UK British Rally Championship

– MRF Tyres BTRDA Rally Series

– Motorsport UK Pirelli Ravenol Welsh Rally Championship

– HRCR Stage Masters Challenge

– ANWCC Forest Stage Rally Championship

– Jordan Road Surfacing BTRDA Historic Cup

– Independent Paint Supplies Rally Challenge
